My Brother ...

Garrett (20), died yesterday. Wow, that is hard to type and even harder to say out loud (accidental drug over dose). I am numb and wanting to just sit and cry. He was a great brother and uncle. I could not have asked for better. I loved him so much and he will be missed. I can't imagine getting passed this without crying or wanting to throw up when I hear his name or see his picture- which is why I don't want to post a picture. (He was the bodybuilder that did the Napoleon Dynamite dance for his competition last year. Under "britt's family" labels I am sure I have pictures of him, but I am not looking through any of my files today to post one here).
This puts life into perspective. It's sobering.

I am crying just reading your post and I don't know your brother. But I do love your family and I feel heartbroken for each of you. I can't stop thinking about ALL of you and your mom, especially. Please know you are in my prayers and if I can do ANYTHING I want to. Please text me if I can take your boys for a day or anything. I sure love you Britt!

Brittany, I have really wanted to call you since I heard the news, but didn't think that it would be a good time. I know that you have a flood of emotions that you are dealing with. I want you to know that I have been thinking about you and your family non stop and have been fasting and praying for you. It breaks my heart to know the pain that you are going through. It is my hope that the Savior will continue to bless and uplift your family through this sensitive time. I know how close you were to Garret.

Brittany, Kara called and told me about Garrett and I have just been so sick, wanting to call not knowing what to do to help you. I really think we are blessed to know we have an eternal family and that one day you will be with Garrett again but it doesn't always make it much easier. Please let me know what I can do to help and I would really like to try to come to his funeral, I just need to give you a big hug. So here is my big hug to you, can you feel it? I love you Britt!

Brittany, I've never been one to know what to say in these situations but I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you. We have been praying for you to have the comfort that you desire and that you will be able to hold strong because of your faith in the plan of salvation. I cannot imagine the emotions you must be feeling losing a sibling! Please let me know if I can do ANYTHING for you. I would love to set up a time where I could come and get the boys or if you just want to go out with the girls to get your mind off of things.

We're so sorry to hear of this loss that you and your family are dealing with. Dennis got to know garrett while he was a leader over the priests briefly when we were in that ward with your family. He was very sad to hear the news, but we are thinking of you and praying for your family.

Brittany, I have felt numb and frozen inside since I heard: it takes me back to April 10, 1995 the day my brother passed away.I wish you and your family were not having to go through this experience. Garrett was sure a handsome guy and he was lucky to have such a wonderful family. Take it an hour and day at a time. It does get easier but it is a process. You and your family are in our prayers. Let me know if I can help with the boys. Love, Dorothy
