Poor Baby Nixon

This is right after the procedure!

Poor little Nixon has had clogged tear ducts. They have been sealing his eyes shut for a couple of weeks and I have been putting a warm wash cloth on them and rubbing the duct to help it open. Well, this hasn't worked! Only an hour or so after washing his eyes they would get goopy again. His eyes would be sore and chapped by the end of the day and he would cry when I touched his eyes. Most doctors won't probe the duct to stop this problem until baby is 1 year (because 90% of the time they open on their own and at that age doctors can drug the baby) and so I flew to California to see My Uncle Steve- Eye Doc- to help. I could not handle this for another 10 months! He and three of his assistants held Nixon and got his tear duct open. This involved sticking a long needle like tool into his tear duct to get it open. I asked my uncle how painful this would be and he said extremely! so I was not looking forward to this procedure, but I am now glad it is done and Nixon's eyes are so much better!

Our Family Mascot!

I love Halloween! and I think Krew does too. We found this little Vampire guy at the store and decided to try him out. We soaked him and his hair began growing! He is cute.

Cross Vegas Bike Race

We drove by Desert Breeze tonight and wondered what was happening, so we stopped and asked people then ended up watching the event for a couple of hours! It was very fun. The race was a "Cyclocross." It was a bike course on the grass. The tires were as thin as road bike tires, but bumpy like mountain bike tires. There were so many people there and the race started at 7 pm with the women racing for 45 minutes. We left at 10 pm and the men were still racing.

Sports 101

My boys are in a sports class that they are loving!

Today was the first day that they went. I don't think that either of them have ever played with a parachute. It was exciting for them. Each week they will learn the rules of another sport. It;s cute to see all these little people playing hockey and basketball- partially because they have no idea what they are doing!

Singing in the Rain

This weekend our family and a lot of extended family along with Nate's co workers and friends went to St. George to run a triathlon (Sprint= .5 mile swim, 12 mile bike, and 3 mile swim or Olympic= double the sprint), BUT it RAINED- more like stormed! so the race got cancelled! However, it was fun being there. The weather was nice compared to the heat we have had for so long. Poor Matix is still scraped up.

Ouch! Treadmil + Matix = PAIN

This picture is right after the accident

Matix decided to run on my treadmill- and fell off! It didn't look like he had gotten to hurt, but the "rug" burns are still pretty red and a little bruised across his chest and on his right cheek.

Later that Night...
The scars look worse! The bumps and scraps didn't just fade after a couple of minutes- they got darker and more bruised. Poor Matix! I have been getting glares everywhere I take him now- Moms wondering how my 2 year old got "road burn." Hopefully it does not scar. I will feel even worse!

Krew's Chocolate Birthday Cake

Today Nate's Aunt Lil sent Krew a solid chocolate cake from Hershey's for his birthday. The boys loved eating it- it's now 10:30 at night and they are still full of energy! And Nate is out of town for a seminar. Not one of the smartest choices I made today.

Gremlins!

My parents have seven of these little sugar glider critters that my boys enjoy watching, but once they get close enough to them both Krew and Matix get terrified of them. Krew has good reason to be- On Sunday we were just playing with them when on jumped and clung onto Krew's face. He still has little scratches. All the gremlins (our nickname) are nice. They will usually make a noise to warn you if they are scared and want to bite you. They can jump and "glide" from person to person or couch or lamp. Just about anything. They are really fast too. They feel very soft, so my boys like to pet them but they do have sharp little claws to hang onto things. Like my boys arms and shirts- That scares them!

Another Day of Art

Today the teacher introduced foam fingerpaints! These were the messiest paints ever! Krew and Matix are loving their art time. Our letters today were "E" and "F"- They stamped eggs and painted flowers.

Happy Birthday 4th Krew!

We had a fun party for Krew at Pump it Up
He was the king of the night and enjoyed every second of it. There was lots of family and friends there to have fun with him. The theme of the gifts was super heroes this year- especially superman and batman. Boy must just be born with knowledge of these things. I have no idea how or why both of my boys LOVE super heroes. It's cute until they want to wear the superman pjs to the grocery store.

Best Brother

Matix and Krew are always asking to hold Nixon. They adore him. It's like having a live baby doll. They help dress him up, talk to him and feed him. Krew is always giving him things to hold. Nixon doesn't quite have a grasp on that concept.

Things that Go Bump in the Night

Snakes!

My boys will never have a snake at my house! I hate these things, but Krew and Matix like them. This picture is my little sister, McCall, holding their pet python. Matix was actually friendly with the snake today.

Yeah! Story Time!

We made up our own story time at Barnes & Noble. The boys love the stage and disturbed everyone in the store reading with their singing and dancing performance. Good thing it wasn't the library. It was entertaining though. I am glad that I did not have to purchase too many ripped items. Only a Disney magazine because Matix wanted to take a picture of Ratatouille home with us.

Nixon is 5 Weeks Old!

Our little guy is growing so fast. I love the newborn stage and I feel like Nixon is already out growing it! Krew and Matix love him so much. They wake him up in the morning because they want to play with him. This is cute, but when Nixon doesn't sleep so easily it will get frustrating for me. I will have three kids to manage. Nixon is still pretty easy because he is not mobile yet. That will be a fun day- I will have three babies running is three opposite directions.

ABC Art Class

I have enrolled the boys in a alphabet art class at the Desert Breeze Community Center to occupy their time. I think that both of them are enjoying it, and it is cute to watch them be creative. They get the opportunity to cut, color & paint and I get the benefit of it not being at my house. I can keep my scissors, paints & markers at home hidden. For the most part I have been successful in keeping my walls and furniture the color I wanted. And so far I have survived not having my hair cut off by my boys (Husband included!). However, Mocha, Krew & our front yard tree have not been so lucky- Nate has found or bought scissors and destroyed all three things! I should sign him up for the next session of art class to relieve some of his creativity.

Who Does He Look Like?

This is such a common question asked to parents. We get the question often. Nate and I have always thought that Krew was a good mix us both, but possibly looked like my family a little more with my sister's nose and Nate's dipples. Matix, I think, resembles Nate more except for the dipple in his chin (My Side)- and he acts like Nate too! Just kidding, but Matix is definitely a handful! I am so glad that we found a computer animated meter to end the debate! Now we have our scientific proof, and our predictions we right.

FHE Herlean Style!

This is our future of family nights for the next couple of months. We have joined the Church of Football- Boys and Mom doing random activities with Dad on the couch watching Monday Night Football! At least he can hold baby Nixon, and our lesson is during half time followed with family prayer when the game is over. Krew will most likely pray for football too.

Tonight we decided to make Halloween Cupcakes for Family Night.

Cupcakes!

Baby Nixon

We had our third little boy a month ago today! He is so peaceful and such a great baby- so far at least. To keep with tradition we named him after another skate company.

A little Herlean History Lesson: Nate & I liked the name Krew when we first got married. We had not decided on the spelling (Crew, Cru, Krew, Kru). It ended up being spelt "Krew", which a couple of months later, my brother informed us that Kr3w was a skate company. So we went shopping and bought all the Kr3w apparel we could find. It was awesome. Nate could wear his baby's name. When we found out we were having boy #2 we went skate name shopping once again at Pharmacy (our fave skate shop) and came up with the name Matix for boy #2. We were hoping for a girl with our third try and got another boy! Skate shopping it was. This one was harder. Spitfire and Volcom weren't our first choices in the list of names from our traditional source. After months of thinking and debating we decided on Nixon- the day after he was born. We had to keep the theme running- even if all the companies go out of buisness before the boys are even old enough to skate. We are currently teaching Krew how to skate. He's got to live up to his name! And Nate can wear any one of his boys names on a shirt or watch now. What love.

Peace Out

This is our 3 year old gangster- Kr3w. We start them young at our house.

Let's Get this Party Started!

All right- After seeing that so many of my friends have blogs I figured I better become more computer savy and start our family a little blog. I realized that my favorite part of Christmas is getting everyone's Christmas cards. I just love seeing the pictures and seeing how everyone has grown and who has added to their family. Blogs are like Christmas cards all year round.
